The State of our Nation
I do not think I need to tell you what a dreadful state our nation is in. I really thought that we had seen our lowest ebb when Blair left office, but Cameron has brought us to a new low and it looks like things will become even worse.
Here some headings that I wrote in a booklet called ‘God’s Heart for a Dying Land’ (I did this a few years before I wrote the book of the same title).
Immorality, Gambling, Political Corruption, Lawlessness, Drunkenness, Slavery and the Occult. I think we all know that these evils are hitting our society hard, don’t we. I wrote in that booklet ‘that the morality and religion in Britain has collapsed to a degree that has never been known in any Christian country.’ However, you may be surprised to hear that I was not writing about the state of our nation in 2002, I was writing about the state of our nation in 1738. The quote was actually from Bishop Berkley who was writing at that time, and that was the time of the beginning of the ‘Great Awakening’ which was led by John Wesley and George Whitefield!
